Psychotherapy in Leigh-on-sea, Essex

About Dr Jane Bingham

I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist member of wpf/Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and a registrant of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). You may check my membership with these organisations by following the links - each has a Complaints Procedure and a Code of Ethics and Practice to which I am bound.

I hold a WPF Diploma in Psychodynamic Supervision and I have extensive experience of supervising counsellors / psychotherapists, both qualified and in training; as well as those employing counselling skills in their professional practice, such as clergy, social workers and health professionals. I also provide counselling skills training in NHS, educational and social service settings.

My PhD examined how the priestly vocation of Anglican clergy might inform, and be informed by, their internal psychological world. I have an ongoing research interest in the psychoanalytic understanding of religious belief and unbelief.

From 2000-2004, I was Director of a voluntary counselling organisation where I established counselling services for adults, adolescents and children, and authored a B.Sc. (Hons) course in child and adolescent counselling. Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I was a registered speech and language therapist, working as a clinician and manager in the NHS. My main clinical interests were adults with disorders of voice (dysphonia), language (dysphasia) and fluency (stammering).
